About Commander 20

My Story

Commander20 came to be because I sucked at magic.

I mean really bad. I started off playing commander as most do, with their friends. We all got 1000 card boxes off amazon built our decks and played our hearts out. I fell in love instantly.

But just because I loved magic doesn’t mean I was good at it. As everyone else was upgrading their decks, finding new ways to win, and even getting better, meanwhile I was losing.

It got so bad I kept a log and my average win rate was 1/16.3 times. A 1.6% win rate for anyone curious. So yeah, I sucked.

It was so frustrating! I had an idea of how my deck should function but I could never get it to do what I wanted it to! But slowly I began getting better. Soon, my win rate was 10%, then 17%, and finally, I made it to the average win rate, of 25%. I was ecstatic 1 out of 4 games I was winning. But I wanted to get better still.

Slowly my win rate kept growing to where against friends, random players, or people at my LGS I can expect a 35-40% win rate. It got to the point where I kept having people ask me, “how do you make your decks?” or “what cards would you recommend?” That I finally decided to take that advice I kept giving and reach a wider audience, you.
